Arnak[edit | edit source]

Half-orc Ranger with an imaginary friend and a love of adventure.

Physical Appearance[edit | edit source]

Tall, standing near 7ft, the hulking green-skinned behemoth is bigger than most in Shatterfall, taking heavily from his mother's full orc heritage. His face and forearms are covered in scars that he doesn't like to discuss. One eye bulges slightly bigger than the other, giving him a certain maniacal look that is in complete contradiction with his quiet nature. While in the field, he can be found wearing his trusty chain-shirt armor, and armed with his mighty longbow and even mightier greataxe.

History[edit | edit source]

Always known as the weird loner around town, Arnak can usually be found wandering around the outskirts of Shatterfall, helping to shift through rubble while talking to his imaginary friend. Most of the older people in town, however, can remember a different time. They remember a young laughing orc boy running the streets of Shatterfall, avoiding chores and causing mischief, a smile never far from his lips. But walls are thin in the Stacks, and the neighbors remember the incessant fighting between his parents. It came to a head during the night of a rather frightening summer storm, some seventeen years ago, when Arnak was around eight years old. His parents fought all night long and with the coming morning only Arnak and his father Jeremiah were left in that house. The story they told everyone was exactly the same, verbatim, that Arnak's mother, Dosa, had had enough of the fighting, and had left the town during the night to return to her tribe. The neighbors, however, will remember that as the day that the smile faded from Arnak's eyes.

No longer the laughing, smiling child the town remembered, Arnak became quiet, withdrawn. He would walk around town with his eyes downcast, hunched in upon himself, and talking to things that weren't there. He would often appear with fresh bruises and the occasional cuts. This lasted for years, until one day, almost five years to the day of his mother's disappearance, his father too up and vanished. The report filed by the guards said simply that Arnak's father Jeremiah had left in the night to track down his mother. Soon after though, Arnak changed his last name and took his mother's, Zorgar, and never again did he appear with fresh bruises on his face. He won't say much about that night, but not many people have tried to crack through to the strange half-orc.

Known Skills[edit | edit source]

Skilled tracker.

Able to find food in the wild.

Dangerous from ranged or up close.

Quirks[edit | edit source]

He can often be seen talking to himself and consulting thin air.

He rarely looks anyone in the eye for too long. When speaking to people, he tends to look just to the side, almost like he's looking at something directly behind you.

His pupils are two different sizes. One extremely dilated and the other normal.

Adventures[edit | edit source]

Adventure 001[edit | edit source]

My first adventure out of town was a real treat. We sailed across the sea, only to be almost sank by what the captain called a "rogue wave". Luckily I was able to spot it in time to warn the crew so we could prepare. Still almost lost a few. We made it to this weird island where some of the folks I was with line up this picture that opened these rifts into another world. We fought these...rock people and I got stabbed in the back by a statue. Not the funnest day ever.

Adventure 002[edit | edit source]

We recently visited the nearby jungle island to our northwest. I managed to climb a tree and cut down this plant pod for Niz, it was until after that we learned that it was actually an incubation pod for a plant-person child. We buried our shame on the beach and traveled inland. It was long until me meet the plant-people. Apparently they were created long ago to take care of the island. The didn't seem to want our help with anything, but they gave us leave to explore a bit. We made it to a second gate, getting attack by these bug infested bloodhawks along the way. On the way back to the beach, we were attacked by these giant frogs, but between Giant Greg, Lyn, and myself, they didn't stand much of a chance. Still, there may be more to that island. Just...uh, don't mention the dead kid.
